The major activities of the project include: Capacity building for college staff
Five PhD scholarships at NMBU in Norway and 22 short term trainings, MSc training in three MRV related disciplines, short term training to professionals in charge of executing activities related to REDD+ and MRV methods, establishment of MRV Capacity Center (MRVCC), spatial data infrastructure (SDI) and software incubation center, strengthening the infrastructure and other facilities of the college for MRV training and research and strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders through networking and coordination in MRV education and research that generate empirical data and methods for REDD+ and MRV implementation.
The MRVCC: is an interdisciplinary and science-based Center of study, which embraces the basic and applied sciences in MRV methods.
The SDI: is a facility in the MRVCC that will be utilized to store, manage and provide access to spatial data, related to forestry and natural resources of Ethiopia to researchers and institutions through defined and nationally approved protocol.
The Software Incubation Center: is also a facility in the MRVCC which have 30 desktop computers, smart board with shared printer a number of software installed in the computers and made available to researchers and students via network.
